GV BRaIN plays vital role

by

V8 Supercar drivers Garry Jacobson and Mark Winterbottom chat with panel host Chris Stubbs at Monday's GV BRaIN event in Shepparton.

GV BRaIN events have been on the Shepparton calendar for more than 10 years now, bringing inspiration, education and — just as importantly — community connection to the city.

Monday night’s talk from Supercar drivers Garry Jacobson and Mark Winterbottom was the second GV BRaIN event for this year and provided insight and inspiration in equal measure. Across the years, the Goulburn Valley Business Rural and Industry Network has brought high-profile speakers from across the spectrum of Australian life, from sport to business, politics, media and the arts to speak to our business and community leaders.

To name just a few, we have been honoured to share time with Winter Olympics gold medallist Alisa Camplin, trucking magnate Lindsay Fox, sporting legends Kevin Sheedy and Tommy Hafey, businesswoman and journalist Ita Buttrose, paralympian Kurt Fearnley, and former High Court justice Michael Kirby.

Each of these well-known people, and many more from business, sport and industry, has brought stories of victory in the face of struggle, creative solutions for difficult problems, and personal insights into life and careers.

Each has provided inspiration, light-bulb moments, and plenty of food for thought for community members. Of course, each event delivers much more than a chance to rub shoulders with successful people from across the nation.

A GV BRaIN event provides a much-relished chance to rub shoulders with the successful and the aspirational of the Goulburn Valley.

Its mission statement says clearly it is an organisation that ‘‘aims to encourage a vibrant, energised and engaged business community by providing opportunities to promote their business, be inspired by high-profile speakers and meet like-minded individuals’’.

As we continually forge ahead into futures that contain uncertainty and doubt, GV BRaIN is exactly the sort of group we need to help build confidence and inspiration in our business community.

Four annual GV BRaIN events are brought to us each year by a small and dedicated committee of city leaders, supported by Greater Shepparton City Council and local sponsors.

Theirs is a remarkable achievement, which has nurtured valuable entrepreneurial skills across our community for more than a decade.

We applaud them for their efforts, and look forward to many more inspirational evenings from GV BRaIN.
