In search of truth
- Neville Moore, Tatura
Once upon a time I was happy and gay. Now I’m just happy, well, I’m still gay, but, you know. Sounds like it will soon be the same with marriage.
My wife and I have been married for 37 years, and at present, you know exactly what that means, don’t you? (No, it doesn’t mean she’s mad). My dictionary describes a husband as a man who has a wife and a wife as a woman who has a husband.
So here are more words that need redefining.
I suppose that’s what happens in a society that applauds diversity. [dict] Diverse, different, completely unalike.
But now I’m befuddled. Because into this diversity we must inject equality. [dict] Equality, the condition or quality of being equal, exact likeness in amount, size, number, value, degree or rank. Phew. So, how do I reconcile diversity and equality?
What is another word that will tell me how to make a distinction, that is to see or note a difference? [dict] Discriminate. This is getting messy. If diversity and discrimination equate, and equality is akin to anti-discrimination, then where does this leave us? I guess it’s a bit like my greenie friends who have no problem with opening my windows to cool down, while leaving the heater on full.
Or my Darwinian (evolutionist) friends who cannot see the inconsistency of claiming to be morally offended at all manner of perceived injustices, when at the same time believe that we have no inherent purpose for our existence. As one of their gurus puts it: no design, no purpose, no good, no evil, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference. Stardust to pond scum to us, yes, and this is the basis for today’s morality.
What is truth? Was the Roman Governor’s response to Jesus statement, I bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.
Although the Governor declared, I find no guilt in him, he delivered him to death. Why? Because he feared the multitude. Interesting.
There is such a thing as truth, it comes from and is determined by our Creator.
It is based upon His purposes in creating, and our purpose for being. Purpose and truth, now there’s two novel ideas.
